ABOUT US County Road Alpacas is owned and operated by Mary Sternitzky and Charles Stearns. I (Mary) am an Information Processing Consultant at the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Chuck is Professor Emeritus of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at UW-Madison and also a former farmer. HISTORY Our alpaca adventure began in February of 2003 with the purchase of three fiber boys. The females arrived the following spring. I began spinning and working with fiber from animals that live right here! I am still amazed at that. There are currently 8 alpacas and 2 angora rabbits sharing the barn, growing luxery fiber (and cria) for us as I type. I feel blessed to have these creatures in my life. They teach me something new every day. |
